The slew of Coles Tower thefts continue. Two more students reported having cash stolen from their rooms on the 13th floor of the tower on March 31. Although the exterior doors to their rooms had been locked, the bedroom doors were left unlocked, said Director of Safety and Security Randy Nichols.

Nichols noted this was not the first time a theft has occurred on the 13th floor—another took place as recently as February 11. Nichols said he met with everyone on the floor at least once and some residents multiple times. The interviews were part of the investigation as well as an opportunity to educate students about protecting themselves.

"I want the students to be alert to any unusual floor activity," he said.

Nichols said the investigation could take weeks, if not months. He added that the perpetrator could be anyone with access to the room—students, staff or friends of students.
